Such as nice, all stainless steel Kontiki rarely comes round. The details such as a spotless dial, sharp 37,4 mm case, near mint Kontiki signed (long!) Gay Freres bracelet and signed original crystal underscores this! Eterna inscribed the 5 Eterna-Matic balls in the crystal – just as Omega, Universal Geneve and Roamer amongst others put their logo in the centre. The crown also has the correct five balls. The yellow gold Kontiki logo on the back (an artist impression of the Thor Heyerdahl expedition raft) is well kept. The dial has applied white gold hour markers which are all intact. All the lume is there. How Eterna came to use the Kontiki name is a secret Thor Heyerdahl seemingly never communicated, but is has been in use (and still is) from the nineteen fifties. The extra detail of the dated bracelet 4/66 (4th quarter 1966) adds to the facts that this is a vintage from in our opinion the very best time in the history of mechanical Swiss watches. (A fun fact: The Ad in the picture selection shows that this model was sold in the US). This watch has not been serviced by us, but it runs well and is guaranteed for 12 months.
