Description

Finding unused and tagged regatta start timers are great fun! To verify that these are early examples (1930s or -40s), the tell tale indicators are: blued steel hands, Art Deco numbers and a non shock absorber balance wheel. The beautiful, numbered and quite untouched movement has the serial number 142443. The movement is stamped “7”, meaning that it contains 7 jewels. Note the engraving: “Hier unten Ersatzstücke”. It means that there are spareparts under cover! This is a typical feature that Excelsior Park included in their pocket chronograph and timer movements, enabling any competent watchmaker to keep the movement functioning even after shocks caused by accidental dropping and/or intensive, long use. The tag number matches the movement number, and the label on the back tells the proud story of Excelsior Park winning acclaim for timers to science and industry. The diameter of the chrome-nickel case is 49 mm.
