Description

Meant for a powerboat’s dashboard of instruments, this high quality Heuer product is pretty rare. Serial number 22274. Sold by Alf Lie, maybe Norway´s most famous watchmaker, it  comes with price tag and it´s Alf Lie´s name and inventory number scratched on the back. The price tag includes the same number and states the price: NOK378,-. It dates from ca 1965. Dating is quite accurate, because the works is signed Heuer-Leonidas (used from 1964), and the inside back cover has the Heuer logo and the earlier Ed. Heuer mark, meaning that the case has been used for some time before the Heuer-Leonidas merger. This watch can be set to the accurate second by stopping the movement. This is done by pulling out the crown (same position as for setting the hands). Earlier Navias does not have the crown on top, but on the bottom. They also lack TC<25mc (micro curie, a radiation scale) that is also often found on diving watches. The watch is in very good condition, with a “heavy duty” chromed case and a beautifully preserved dial. The hands have some miscolouring near the centre, though. There is also small damage to the glass (between 9 and 10, and at 4 o’clock). The 8-day movement has caliber A28, 15 jewels and is waterproofed by the screw back fixing plate.
