Removable inner fitting

This very rare, lined, wooden case represents the quality you can expect from something labelled “IWC, International Watch Company, Schaffhausen, Switzerland – Since 1868”. It is made of fine wood and gold plated brass locks and other fittings (one rear brass corner protector is missing). The interior  fits 7 pocket watches/-chronographs/-timers of 4 different sizes: ca 44, 48, 54 and 58 mm. The case measures 40 x 27 x 5,5 cm. It can be kept open with the “IWC” labelling visible by pulling the interior up and in against the lid, thereby holding it to stay 90 degrees. We find this case difficult to date, but assume that it very well could have been made in the 1960s.
