The Ocean Star series of watches have interested us for some time. We were very lucky to obtain one of the first “Rainbow” divers from 1959 a couple of years back. You can read about that model (ref 5907) on both Fratello watches and at Alpha Hands watches. The reference 5057 model here is rare, but not such a stunner as the 5907. However, this watch has the same patented monocoque case, the signed crystal, crown, buckle and strap. It also has the PowerWind automatic movement. Despite it having an automatic movement, this slim beauty is only 9,7 mm thick. We date it to ca 1965. We also like to point out the “oversize” 36 mm diameter case, the beautiful silvered dial with white gold applied detailing and finally the original completeness of our vintage Mido. To save the original strap from wear, we have fitted a new black leather strap for regular use. (As you can see from the pictures, the fixing ring with lumeplots have moved out of place. This will of course be fixed by us before delivery).
