Large vintage Seamaster, 35.3 mm diameter
No date, late fifties (1959)
Minimalistic dial, sweeping seconds
Often vintage Seamasters from this period come in a combination of a stainless steel case and yellow gold hour markers and hands. This sweep seconds movement with serial number 17714187, caliber 285 sports the more attractive steel hands and white gold hour markers. It could easily have been labelled “30” also, as the movement has the 30 mm outer diameter. We are pleased, though that the “30” has been dropped here, as “OMEGA” and “Seamaster” balances the dial decor in an uncluttered way. This watch has been used, but not overused. It is in good condition, with some marks on the case and the back cover. The crystal has been changed at some time, the crown is very nice, and could be the original. The case has long, angular lugs making the total height 43.7 mm. After having installed a new back cover gasket, the watch was successfully waterproofed to pressure 3 bar (30 m). (Picture of the movement was taken before gasket change). Lug width is 18 mm. The brown Condor strap is brand new, and the buckle is stainless steel. An attractive buy in good condition. The movement is running well, and it is guaranteed 12 months although not serviced by us.
