As the fifties showed a few novelties in diving watches (Submariner, Seamaster 300, Fifty Fathoms and Seawolf), skin diving became more and more popular in the sixties introducing a lot of new “sporty, waterproof” watches. At the entry of the next decade, diving watches was “the thing” among younger persons. As a result, a lot of new brands tried their luck in this market. Many did not succeed. This diver is a nice example of a small brand product. It has seen little hard use, has a standard, good quality ETA 2873 automatic movement and will be serviceable still many years from now. The black dial is, together with the full lume indexes and hands, in quite mint condition. The crystal has been renewed. It has a screw down crown and a nicely matched stainless steel bracelet. The attractive, unpolished case dimensions (widthxlengthxthickness) are 38 x 42,2 x 11,7 mm. We date this Wega Swiss diver to the first half of the seventies.
