Soon ready from watchmaker
We have had very few IWC watches, so the joy of offering a super example is so satisfying. International Watch Company, Schaffhausen has always been associated with the highest quality. IWC’s motto is Probus Scafusia, a Latin phrase meaning “good, solid craftsmanship from Schaffhausen“. The motto was established in 1903. The serial numbers 1741317 and 1747476 respectively, on this specimen (the first on the movement and the second on the inside the back cover point to ca 1964. (The dated engraving “EBC, 24.12-66” is in accordance with these numbers). The dial, the applied white gold indexes (heightened by black onyx), and all three hands are perfectly mint. The 35 mm diameter case is not. It shows marks consistent with consistent use over time, but is unpolished and sharp. The snap on case back and the original crown with the “fish” logo are great. The top left lug is slightly bent. Lug tip to lug tip length is 39,2 mm and the thickness 10,3 (which is slim for an automatic movement). The caliber 854 movement is presently being fully serviced. The watch comes with its original IWC green box (“SWISS MADE”).
