Description

Very rare and early automatic chronograph from Heuer

Named after racing driver Derek Bell

Fully serviced and guaranteed

This is not the much more prolific “Viceroy”! Having ridged markers and a 143xxx serial number this Autavia can be dated to 1970/-71. (The “Viceroy” was introduced through the American cigarette mark Viceroy ad campaign. The carton end flap send in, running from the summer 1972, proved to be a success for Heuer. Check the ad included in our photo selection if you want details).

The well looked after caliber 12 movement is probably a service replacement, which might seem a pity, but this much improved update runs much better than the original “Monday car” caliber 11. The well used reference 1163 case is 42.3 wide, 47.3 high, and 15.8 mm thick. Lug strap/bracelet size is 20 mm. This Autavia is not mint, but in sound, good condition and very wearable. It will be approved of in every Heuer collector community.
