The Ultra-Chron series of super accurate high beat watches were the “most accurate watch in the world” (see picture of ad from 1972). I can remember these watches being praised by our local Longines dealer in the seventies as something uniquely impressing. The serial number on the movement is 51826653 which dates the production to 1974. (The case number 16802606 indicates a production date of 1969 – telling us that the numbers not always are referred correctly to when the completed watches were ready to be sold). The unpolished case is sharp but not perfect (there are some small signs of patination). The original crown is a very nice confirmation of the careful use this watch has had. Neither is the no lume dial absolutely mint, but the condition and general impression of this vintage Longines is very good. The dimensions of the “cushion” shaped case are 34 mm across, 38 high and 10.2 mm thick (very slim for an automatic).
