We are so grateful for the contribution from fellow collectors/dealers on the wealth of information to be found online. Regarding this watch and other Certinas we rely on the following super net asset: vintagecertinas.ch: “From 1960 to 1971, only 8821 mechanical chronometers were produced at Certina. All with the 25-65 movement (without date) or 25-651 (with date). The movement has a unique serial number which must match the one on the case back”. The “Coronation” model we are presenting for sale here is not even mentioned, and is therefore very hard to find anywhere. We can only speculate to the occasion worth labeling a Certina with the “Coronation” model name. Could it possibly be: “26 Oct 2017 — The Shah of Iran crowned himself in a lavish ceremony in the Grand Hall of the Golestan Palace in Tehran”? Our watch has a gift inscription dated 31.1.69, therefore the connection to a royal celebration (if indeed there is such a thing) must be before 1969. Otherwise a mint gold on steel Certina, with matching numbers. Dimensions are case diameter 35.2 x 42 (length) x 11,2 (thickness).
