One should think these 1950s/-60s luxury items were meant for the American market; imagine how the V8 engine was THE thing in cars at the time. Here, of course the 8 stands for 8 days, something that very few alarm watches could offer. This model also doubles as a desk watch, the main point being that it only had to be wound once a week. Were other alarms had to be wound every day, here you wind the alarm only once a week as well. All instructions are in the warranty booklet: The brilliant patent limits the alarm to 8 seconds duration a day. No more fumbling, just get up of bed. Or, set it to your finishing time at work, to remember to go home in time. Being delivered with a leather box (bag?) it was super for carrying on travels as well. The movement runs accurately, but we have not serviced it. Dimensions are: Box:10.6 x 10.6 x 4.6. Watch: 8.6 x 8.6 cm.
