Such a nice, all stainless steel Kontiki rarely comes round. The details such as a spotless dial, sharp 37,4 mm case, near mint Kontiki  and signed original crown and crystal underscores this! Eterna inscribed the 5 Eterna-Matic balls in the crystal – just as Omega, Universal Geneve, Movado and Roamer amongst others. You have to look very closely, to spot their logo in the centre (engraved on the inside). The crown also has the correct five balls. (The reason for this logo comes from the fact that Eterna used a roller ball bearing to support the rotating weight used in the automatic to wind the watch). The yellow gold Kontiki logo on the back (an artist impression of the Thor Heyerdahl expedition raft) is very well kept. The dial has applied white gold hour markers which are all intact. All the lume is there. How Eterna came to use the Kontiki name is a secret Thor Heyerdahl seemingly never communicated, but is has been in use (and still is) from the nineteen fifties. This Eterna is a vintage from, in our opinion the very best time in the history of mechanical Swiss watches. (A fun fact: The Ad in the picture selection shows that this model was sold in the US).
