Rare and desirable vintage
High beat, no lume, monocoque
Similiar 1969 model on sale at CHF3500
Our old watchmaker told us in the early 1980s that these Longines high beat movements were the finest he had seen in his career. According to the ads from the late sixties when the Ultra-Chron movements were introduced, Longines labelled them “the most accurate watch in the world”. Supposedly accurate to only one second/month. Both an example of the said advertissement and the reference to price of a similar watch restored by Longines themselves are represented among the pictures included. The silvered, cross-haired, no lume dial is very near perfect, as are the hands and the white gold applied indexes. (The Longines and Ultra-Chron logos are also in white gold and applied together with the date window frame). The case is unpolished, with the back showing little wear. The reference number stamped is 15/617964. The crown has been replaced. The movement has not been opened or serviced by us, but the watch runs fine and carries our 12 month guarantee. The case dimensions are: Diameter 34,5, length lug tip to lug tip 40,5 and the thickness is 10,5 mm. We find the brown racing strap with the stainless steel buckle to be a good match, but you can choose another strap if you so please. We date this watch to ca 1969.
