A minimalistic simple silvered dial with no date window on this very nice Sport Chief is what we call a “no date”. The gold, applied hour markers are baton shaped, except for the 3,6,9 and 12 positions. These are wedge shaped and equal in form and shape. (Very many watches from the sixties have the 12 position marked with a “double” marker). Both the dial and hands are beautifully clean. The movement is something to notice in Longines: These calibers are incredibly nice looking. Please look at the pictures closely. The jewels are mounted in gold bushings! The fully serviced manual movement (caliber 280) has timer screws and the serial number is 12646303. Many collectors seek this caliber! Production date is ca 1964/-65. The stainless steel case measures 34 mm in diameter, 9,2 mm thickness and 41,5 mm lug tip to lug tip. It has the case reference number 7272 3 engraved on the inside back cover. Few vintage watches are perfect, and this watch has two minor points: The crown has been replaced and one lume dot is missing (at 11).
