Rare, steel “Polerouter Super” automatic, big (diver) crown. Microrotor caliber 1-69 movement.

Caseback stamped inside: Brevet 238872, Brev. De. Acier inoxydable, Universal Geneve, Swiss. 869112/22  2 533 166. Patent 329805. Original crystal with cyclop and UG logo. 20mm between lugs.

Polerouter (first watches were named Polarouter) was a joint marketing project Universal Geneve (UG) launched in connection with Scandinavian Air System’s (SAS) ground breaking new flights from Scandinavia over the North Artic to Los Angeles, USA in 1954. UG produced the Polerouter to “withstand the magnetic field, vibrations and demands to accuracy” that the airmen in SAS required. The watch was priced similiar to Rolex Explorer.
